WELL
Friday is here and so is my FILM.  YAY.

NOW, I'm waiting on the film to load on to my Mac and then I'm getting started..well tomorrow I'll get started with editing.  A full day running with dad, playing the the water with Layla, looking for wedding gowns with my sister-in-law and visiting friends has left my brain empty.

I'm aiming for having a little teaser by the end of the week...so check back soon!

waiting on Friday...

I'm posting mainly because I've been WAY slack with this blog and I know some of you all use this to keep up with Black Daffodil.  Sorry guys!

Filming went great the other weekend and I'm playing the waiting game now.  I'm expecting the processed film to be back by Friday and will get started right away.  I tried some new techniques with this film, so I'm really excited to see how it looks.  I heard from my guy at Spectra Film and Video that the film was going to be beautiful shot the way I shot it...but we'll see.

Hopefully by the end of next week, I'll have a little teaser for you all.  I think my hubby is already stressing over the music on this one.  I argued that he'll top the last one easy--he always does.

Thanks for hanging in there with me--despite the neglect of this poor little blog.  I will post more often...I will post more often...I will post more often.  There.  Better.

SOLD!

YAY for selling my first 8mm wedding package!

I am so excited...it feels like such an accomplishment.  I think what makes me so incredibly excited is that the groom, who I've had the pleasure of getting to know via phone calls, has some knowledge of Super 8 film and LOVES it.  His grandfather worked for Kodak for nearly 40 years and was always bringing home new "movie films" for his cameras (speaking of which...I'm trying out a new film on Saturday...I think I may have found my sweet spot with it).  It was so nice not to have to sell someone on the beauty and romance of film...it was nice that he had already fallen in love with it.

Although the bride and groom are from DC, they are getting married in good old NC.  So on Saturday evening, I'll drive down to Denton, NC to a small, one room, white church with no air conditioning and creaky old benches to film.  Doesn't it just sound "moody" already?  From what I understand, the church isn't used anymore, but it is on some old family land...I think it actually used to be a school house?  Anyway, they'll tie the knot at this adorable little church in the middle of a tall grass field and then head off to Revolution Mill in Greensboro for the reception.  I've photographed some weddings at Revolution Mill with dad, so I'm excited to see how it looks on film...I can't imagine it being anything less than perfect.

The best part of it all, Neil is going to be tagging along at the reception to film a new "product" for me...I can't wait to share it with you guys, because the idea is super cool...but I'm going to keep it under lock and key until I have something to show.

SO...
Saturday will be very busy...but loads of fun.  PLUS I get to work with my two favorite men...my husband and my father.
I'm excited about working with my husband for the first time....

Guess what I just found

WHEW...after searching high and low....and feeling like I'd have to settle for less than I pictured in my head (sometimes my ideas are quite elaborate), I finally found a small part of my new product packaging.  I guess there isn't a huge demand out there for DVD packaging with a vintage feel.  Now, if I wanted super modern (but o-so-common) tin or leather packaging, I'd be all set.

You can imagine how elated I am right now.  I also found a company in the UK that has been extremely responsive to my inquiries and is putting together a proposal for the boxes that will house my final product!  I guess it helps to get up early and get a quick start on the day.

YAY for making progress!  Now...off to reward myself with a nice grande cup of Tazo Berryblossom White Tea...YUM!  Read this post (here) and I think you may want to join me.

She's done

So happy to be showing the full film to you guys!  Just in case I haven't said this already, I was able to work with two pretty amazing photographers on this project.  Check out their websites here and here.  They continue to be a source of encouragement and inspiration....thanks guys.

Okay...so here's the part where I stop talking and let you guys enjoy the film.

Editing--DONE

Editing is completely finished.  Whew.  That was so much fun.

Now I'm just waiting on my o-so-talented soundtrack guy to finish up the music and it'll be go time.  I can't wait to start shopping this film around...it has turned out to be truly breathtaking.

SO, check back later this week.  I just have the full length sample film up for your viewing pleasure.

Just a little teaser

SO...my film came in--as I mentioned earlier.  I've had the chance to edit it down quite a bit and wanted to give you guys a "sneak peak" of what to expect.  I'm just so excited that I can't keep it all to myself for the next week.  Okay, so I am a little TINY bit impatient--I've even been known to give Christmas gifts weeks ahead of the actual day.

Anyway, my over-the-top talented husband (I mean, he has more artistic ability in his little toe than I have in my whole body) put together the music...isn't he just amazing or what?  I love working with him (it helps that he's nice to look at while he's working too).

Okay so without further ado, enjoy and please leave your comments...I'm dying to hear what you all think.  Also, make sure you watch it full screen--its nicer that way.
